東京もやっと梅雨入りしました。
とは言っても雨がしとしと降ると言うよりかはザッと降って後は暑い日が続いているといった感じです。
昨日は久々に散髪しに下北沢へ行ったんですが、美容院に着くまでに暑さで目が回りそうでした。
長年通っている美容室で最近の事情などを情報交換していて思ったのは、やはりどの現場でも人手不足というか簡単に仕事を辞める若者が多いという事です。
ジェネレイションの問題なんでしょうが、単純に仕事に対して全うな姿勢を持っている人達が少なくなったという事のような気がします。
恐らく手間や時間を省く事を良しとする考えからですかね。
しかし仕事ってのは本来、その手間や時間の中に答えがあるんですけどね。。。
AIに仕事を奪われないであろう技術職なんかは特にね。
まっ、でも漠然と不安なのかもしれませんね彼らは。
手っ取り早く安心できるお金を稼いで将来に備えたいのかもしれません。
これもこう行った世の中になってしまった結果なのかな、なんとなく可哀想な世代でもあります。
しかし今回の都知事選は酷いですね。。
最悪です。もはや無法地帯です。
一応東京都民なので心配です、さてさてどうなる事か。。。
さて明日は国分寺でKORG Quartetのライブです。
毎回違う選曲でジャズのマニアックな曲から有名曲まで幅広く演奏します。
今回は夏にちなんだ選曲になります。
タイトルに夏だったり内容が夏のように熱かったり。
ピアノレスのサックスカルテットならではのクールで自由度の高い演奏です。
ピアノと違ってギターの場合多くても4声の和音しか弾けません。
これがソリストにとってソロを取る際に自由度が増すわけです。
ピアニストが左手のコードに対して右手で違うコードのトライアドもしくはコードを弾くことが多々ありますが、
この場合、音数が多く限られた響きしか鳴らせなくなる場合があります。
その点ギターは同様のアイディアをテンションコードや２ヴォイスや３ヴォイスで弾くことで要所だけを響かせることができ、結果ソリストのアイディアを邪魔しないバッキングになるという訳です。
Sonny Rollinsや後期Dizzy Gillespieなどもピアノレスを好んでいました。
そんな事も気にしながらピアノレスカルテットを聴くとまた新たな楽しみ方が増えるかもしれません。

The rainy season has finally arrived in Tokyo.
That said, rather than a steady rain, it’s more like a light downpour followed by hot days.
Yesterday, I went to Shimokitazawa to get my hair cut for the first time in a while, but by the time I got to the salon, I was dizzy from the heat.
I was exchanging information about the latest situation at the salon I’ve been going to for many years, and I realized that there is a labor shortage in every workplace, and that many young people are quitting their jobs easily.
It’s probably a generational issue, but I think there are simply fewer people who have a proper attitude toward work.
Perhaps it’s because people think it’s good to save time and effort.
But the answer to work is actually in the effort and time it takes…
Especially in technical jobs that are unlikely to be taken over by AI.
Well, they may just be vaguely anxious.
Maybe they want to earn quick, secure money to prepare for the future.
I wonder if this is the result of the world we live in, and I feel sorry for this generation somehow.
But this Tokyo gubernatorial election is terrible.
It’s the worst. It’s now a lawless zone.
I’m a Tokyo resident so I’m worried, I’ll see what happens…
Well, tomorrow is the KORG Quartet live in Kokubunji.
Every time, we play a wide range of songs, from obscure jazz tunes to famous songs.
This time, we’ve chosen songs related to summer.
The titles are summer, and the content is as hot as summer.
It’s a cool and free performance that only a piano-less saxophone quartet can do.
Unlike the piano, the guitar can only play chords with four voices at most.
This gives the soloist more freedom when playing a solo.
Pianists often play triads or chords with different chords with their right hand in response to the chords with their left hand,
but in this case, there are many notes and only a limited number of sounds can be produced.
In that respect, the guitar can play similar ideas with tension chords or two or three voices, allowing only the important parts to resonate, resulting in a backing that does not interfere with the soloist’s ideas.
Sonny Rollins and the late Dizzy Gillespie also preferred piano-less performances.
If you keep these things in mind when listening to the pianoless quartet, you may find it more enjoyable.
It looks like it’s going to be cloudy tomorrow as well.
